About this tour

Embark on a journey back to the Viking Age. With this digital tour, you are ready to step into the Vikings' footsteps and hear about Denmark's first and largest ring fortress Aggersborg, which was erected by Harald Bluetooth around the year 980.

Imagine inside the rampart, 48 identical longhouses, life and liveliness, slaves plucking chickens with feathers in their ears, the blacksmith hammering away on the glowing iron and men, sweating, training their combat skills.

At the rampart, the king's men stand sharply monitoring the traffic both on land and on sea. The entrances of the wooden clad fortress are located towards the four corners of the world, and the ring fortress itself is strategically laid out straight onto the Limfjord, the transport lifeline of the Viking Age.

Start the history and listen to the story about Harald Bluetooth's era of greatness, the transition from paganism to Christianity, wild battles, and not least the interesting archaeological findings at Aggersborg in the northern part of Himmerland.
