Test your knowledge and quiz along the way – fun with groups!
Did you know that colonialism is a determinant of health?
This walk invites you to explore Copenhagen through a global health lens, uncovering how colonialism, medicine, and ideas of progress have shaped the city around us — often in ways that are easy to miss.
Along the route, you will visit hospitals, museums, monuments, gardens, and the University of Copenhagen. Together, these sites reveal how histories of empire became embedded in healthcare systems, scientific knowledge, public health, and ideas about what makes a society healthy.
From a former slave-trade warehouse to an old royal hospital, from botanical collections to contemporary medical research, the walk traces how unequal systems have been built, justified, challenged, and remembered.
What hidden histories lie beneath the surface of the city — and how do they continue to shape health and wellbeing in the past, present, and future?
